android – Download manager won’t download but my media player can play through online

My Media player works well and can play through online but when I trying to download the played music the Download Manager can’t download and says “wait for network connection” even the url is same as what the played music url had.

enter image description here

Here is my code:

DownloadManager.Request request = new DownloadManager.Request(Uri.parse(urlhttp));
                    request.setAllowedNetworkTypes(DownloadManager.Request.NETWORK_WIFI);
                    request.setAllowedNetworkTypes(DownloadManager.Request.NETWORK_MOBILE);

                    btn_download.setText("D-loading");
                    btn_download.setEnabled(false);
                    request.setTitle(title);
                    request.setDescription("file is being downloaded");
                    request.allowScanningByMediaScanner();
                    request.setAllowedNetworkTypes(DownloadManager.Request.NETWORK_MOBILE);
                    request.setAllowedNetworkTypes(DownloadManager.Request.NETWORK_WIFI);
                    request.setNotificationVisibility(DownloadManager.Request.VISIBILITY_VISIBLE_NOTIFY_COMPLETED);
                    File mydownload = new File(String.valueOf(Environment.getExternalStoragePublicDirectory("/praise_file")));
                    if (!mydownload.exists()) {
                        mydownload.mkdir();
                    }
                    BroadcastReceiver onComplete = new BroadcastReceiver() {
                        public void onReceive(Context ctxt, Intent intent) {
                            // your code
                            Toast.makeText(ViewPager.this, "Download Completed", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
                            btn_download.setText("Completed");
                            btn_download.setEnabled(false);
                        }
                    };
                    registerReceiver(onComplete, new IntentFilter(DownloadManager.ACTION_DOWNLOAD_COMPLETE));

                    request.setDestinationInExternalPublicDir("/praise_file", audio_file);
                    DownloadManager manager = (DownloadManager) getSystemService(Context.DOWNLOAD_SERVICE);
                    manager.enqueue(request);

that codes works last time but now won’t download anything even I have good internet.

python – Splunk download using dask delayed

I am trying to download data from a splunk instance for a period of time using delayed. I have created a function that works like this:

@delayed
def _execute_query(query, time_period):
    spl_service = Service(username, password, host, port)
    return spl_service(query, time_period)

def execute_splunk_query(query, time_period):
    time_periods = time_period.split(timedelta(minutes=10)
    delayed = []
    for tm_per in time_periods:
        results = _execute_query(query, tm_per)
        delayed.append(results)
    return delayed

Assume data are larger than my laptops memory for that period of time so I want to use dask for it. I use the distributed scheduler so I set up a local cluster like this

from dask.distributed import Client
client = Client()
# setup query and time_period

results = execute_splunk_query(query, time_period)

# i do the following to convert to dataframe
results_bag = dask.bag.from_delayed(results)
data_df = results_bag.to_dataframe()
data_df.persist() # works with client and local cluster

Then this process takes too long and I get a MemoryError. So I have some questions on that:

  1. Doesn’t dask take care of that (Memory) by moving data from memory to disk? Does this work when persisting data.
  2. I see that when the delayed tasks are executed I don’t see any performance boost, like they are executed sequenctially and not in parallel. I can see that is true also in dask dashboard.

Could you please explain the above a little more in details?

Netflix has a hidden limit on the number of times you can download stuff

Netflix limits the number of times titles can be downloaded to watch offline.
Netflix limits the number of times titles can be downloaded to watch offline.

Image: Justin Lane/EPA/REX/Shutterstock

Netflix binging offline may not be so simple after all.

The video-streaming company announced last year that it would be letting users download movies to watch on-the-go in places where Wi-Fi isn’t available. It’s a great feature, but as is the case with pretty much anything, there’s a bit of a catch.

The number of times a user can download a movie or show is limited, and Netflix hasn’t made it clear, according to Digital Trends.

Any content downloaded has an expiration date, which is directly stated in the site’s help section. This means you only have, say 48 hours, to watch you movie you downloaded – you can’t keep it forever. Amazon Prime’s download option has a similar restriction.

But users who wish to download the same movie or show multiple times may need to rethink that decision, because those are the downloads that appear to be limited, Android Police reported.

The site points out that rights holders to the movies and shows have the ability to put a limit on how many times content can be downloaded, and since Netflix doesn’t own most of the shows and movies it provides, they really can’t bear all the blame here.

The company does state on its site that there may be a limit on the number of times a title can be renewed. However, it’s buried in the site’s help section, and there’s no clarification on which titles have limits, and which titles may not.

Netflix did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

So until we get more answers, be careful about your repeat viewing. You may reach that dreaded limit sooner thank you think.
