c# – Entity Framework Database Connection in Single-Threaded Application

I have a unique (or so I think) problem – we have an ASP.NET web app using MVC principles. The project will be at most single threaded (our business requires single point of control). We are using Entity Framework to connect to the database

Problem:

We want to query our database less frequently than every page load.

I have considered putting our database connection in a singleton but am worried about connecting to in too infrequently — will a query still work if it connected a significant time ago? How would you recommend connecting to the database?

How do I add HttpServer features to Java application, must work for Oracle and Open JDK

I have an application, currently can run as a Gui Application or command line only. I want to add support so that its runs a server, and can be controlled via a different computer via web browser.

So it will run continously on port, and I want user to connect to that port in browser and see a summary page, then be able to initiate requests via http get requests.

Its need to work with OpenJdk not just Oracle Java so I guess that stops use of com.sun.httpserver.

This is an improvement to an existing product it cannot be reengineered to run as a servlet within a Servlet Engine such as Jetty or Tomcat, in fact most users will continue to use it in Gui or cmd line mode.

I don’t want to reinvent the wheel so I don’t want to try add this basic http support from scratch.

I am using Java 8

Can some suggest an approach.

java – Customize the logs when running spring boot application in sysV

I was looking for a method to run spring boot application in backend. Then I found the solution that linking the executable my-app.jar to /etc/init.d and starting it as service.

But soon I found another problem. I’m using log4j2 to record the logs, and I edit some rules to roll files together. But the logs recorded by sysV is automatically saved in /var/logs and named as my-app.log.

How can I customize the log behavior? And is there another method to achieve the goal?

c# – Application exits after closing modal Dialog

I’m working on a simple project to learn Caliburn.Micro

I got two ViewModels SettingsViewModel and MainViewModel. I want to show the MainViewModel and immediatelly after show the SettingsViewModel as a modal Dialog, so the User can configure the application before it starts.

When i start my App the View for MainViewModel doesn’t show but the modal pops up. When i close the Dialog with TryClose(true) in Start(), my Application will exit. I want only SettingsViewModel to close, so that i can continue with Handle(Settings message) in MainViewModel

AppBootstrapper:

protected override void OnStartup(object sender, StartupEventArgs e)
{
     DisplayRootViewFor<MainViewModel>();
}

SettingsViewModel:

using Caliburn.Micro;
using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.Linq;
using System.Text;
using System.Threading.Tasks;
using System.Windows.Forms;

namespace AbrechnungPSA.ViewModels
{
    class SettingsViewModel : Screen
    {
        private IEventAggregator _eventAggregator;

        public SettingsViewModel(IEventAggregator eventAggregator)
        {
            _eventAggregator = eventAggregator;
        }

        /// <summary>
        /// Starts the Main Application
        /// </summary>
        public void Start()
        {
            TryClose(true);
        }
    }
}

MainViewModel:

using Caliburn.Micro;
using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.Dynamic;
using System.Linq;
using System.Text;
using System.Threading.Tasks;
using System.Windows;

namespace AbrechnungPSA.ViewModels
{
    public class MainViewModel : PropertyChangedBase, IHandle<Settings>
    {
        private Settings _settings;

        private readonly IEventAggregator _eventAggregator;
        private readonly IWindowManager _windowManager;

        public MainViewModel(IEventAggregator eventAggregator, IWindowManager windowManager)
        {
            _eventAggregator = eventAggregator;
            _eventAggregator.Subscribe(this);

            _windowManager = windowManager;

            dynamic settings = new ExpandoObject();
            settings.WindowStartupLocation = WindowStartupLocation.CenterOwner;
            settings.ResizeMode = ResizeMode.NoResize;

            var result = _windowManager.ShowDialog(new SettingsViewModel(_eventAggregator), null, settings);
        }

        /// <summary>
        /// Receive User adjusted Settings and start Application
        /// </summary>
        /// <param name="message"></param>
        public void Handle(Settings message)
        {
            _settings = message;

            // TODO ...
        }
    }
}

multi-core computing pandas and scipy.stats application, python

I am using a pandas dataframe using scipy.stats to run some correlations. My data frame has 1 million and change columns. The code works ..but when apply it to whole data frame it is taking too long (upto this point 25 minutes). I have access to 98 core compute cluster, and I am wondering how I can distribute the operations to these cores–(I usually work with bash and other tools, not python and pandas…so application of multicore processes in python is something I never tried.) Any help would be appreciated…

pvals = a.ix[:,0:].apply(lambda col: stats.spearmanr(col, b.ix[:,0])[1], axis=0)

eclipse – How do I add a customised popup for a Java RCP application which launches only when it has java 7 or higher versions(32-bit)?

Currently, I have an application which is built using Java RCP(Eclipse Mars). It can launch only if the system has JAVA 7 Or any other higher version(32-bit only). When trying to launch using JAVA 6 it throws up a popup.(See attached popup).[Some Users might still have Java 6 in their system]. I would like to add my own customised dialog instead of this. How can this be achieved? Any thoughts? I’m attaching the error log here for your reference.Error Log
